In 2015 Madeleina won funding from 02 Think Big to manage and lead an eco-arts project called Moorland Wonderscape.
The aim of the project was to help disadvantaged groups from urban areas visit the Peak District to learn about environmental conservation and participate in an eco-arts workshop. The project also engaged local youth groups in the conservation projects through arts workshops.
Madeleina worked alongside Sheffield University Landscape Department who used the project for research purposes. The local conservation environmental organisation Moors for the Future gave talks about projects and led wildlife walks for the groups who participated in the project, this included; Crisis (the homeless charity), Young Carers and a pensioner’s art group from Sheffield, as well as the local primary school and Cubs groups. Madeleina gave arts workshops to all the groups as well as organising worshops for local events such as; Edale Country Day, Hope Festival and Edale Orchard Picnic.

Eco Artwork from the Worshops
Edale Primary school children learned about the local conservation projects to protect the bumble species in the area. They created their own Fimo bumblebees which were turned into keyrings for them to take home.
At Edale country day, visitors contributed as small canvas to create this large mosaic image of the countryside, celebrating everyone’s individual’s perception of the Peak District.
Children at Hope Carnival learned about the local wildlife monitoring projects in the area for butterfly species. They then helped to create this stained glass butterfly window.

Exhibitions
The artwork from the workshops was then displayed in two exhibitions. The first was organised by Madeleina in the Edale Village Hall along with a launch event. The exhibition then moved to Sheffield and was displayed in the Crisis in Arts Festival.
